Tetsukabuto squash (green pumpkin) are a brilliant cross between kabocha and butternut. They have a sweet and nutty but earthy flavour profile, a great long storage life, and are versatile for cooking and baking.
These are also referred to as Apocalypse Squash/“the squash you need for the apocalypse.” If you happen to buy one and harvest the seeds to plant, they can be a high-yield variety, that also improves the lives, sturdiness and disease-resistance of other produce growing around them. Everybody wins! Each squash is medium/large and averages 4 – 5 pounds.
For the past 25 years, the Sturdy family has been growing beautiful produce at North Arm Farm in the Pemberton valley.
