Also known as curds and whey to some, cottage cheese is an unaged, cow’s milk product with a mild flavor and a creamy texture. Instead of pressing the cheese to make just cheese curd, cottage cheese is made by draining the cheese – resulting in retaining some of the whey and keeping the curds loose.

Popular among athletes and health food fanatics, cottage cheese provides a high content of casein protein while also being relatively low in fat.

Enjoy cottage cheese on its own or paired with fruit like pears, peaches and mandarin oranges. It can be eaten on toast, added to salads or even used to replace mayonnaise in tuna salad!
